BIG 13/WTVT Employee Reunion
Return to main menu
Saturday, April 2, 2005, is the date for the WTVT employee reunion, to be held in Tampa. The reunion will coincide with WTVT's 50th Anniversary and plans are being made to make the reunion spectacular and something we'll all remember.
Spouses, relatives, and significant others are welcome to attend this event!
A survey of about 100 alumni was taken in February 2004 to determine how much it would cost to attend, the location, and what extras like video playbacks and displays of memorabilia would be possible.
Votes are being tabulated and costs are being analyzed to help select the venue for our reunion on April 2, 2005.
We must commit to our choice 1 year in advance, or risk losing the venue.
BIG 13 web site creator Mike Clark is chairman of the reunion committee, and BIG 13 feature writer (and former WTVT reporter) Tony Zappone will be the reunion's treasurer. Additional committee members will be added during the coming months.
After the location is announced in April, 2004, Emails will go out requesting checks or money orders from attendees to secure the facility and begin the process of reserving equipment and personnel.
(Reunion committee members will be reimbursed for expenses pertaining to their duties, i.e. - phone calls/mileage/materials).
Please note that a huge cost savings for video playback materials will be made possible by Mike Clark, who is creating the video tributes and donating the time and equipment it takes at no cost to the reunion. It's possible that DVD copies will be made available later.
Reunion Email updates will be sent to you on a monthly basis.
We've had interest from former WTVT employees in California, Texas, Washington, New York, Georgia, and Florida, among others. There will be on-air talent from news, sports, and weather. People from production, traffic, engineering, sales, art, promotion, and other areas will be attending!
The festivities will include tributes, video playbacks, and a few surprises. It will be a celebration of the people who helped make WTVT an outstanding television station.
This is probably the ONE AND ONLY time such a large number of former employees will gather for a momentous occasion -- Channel 13's 50th Birthday.
Let's make it one for the history books! If you know a former WTVT employee, ask them if they are aware of the reunion. If they have not been contacted, please direct them to the website (big13.net). If they do not have a computer or Email, a letter requesting information should be sent to:
